operators of the 11850 directory service, anticipated the opportunity which was going to arise from the deregulation of Directory Enquiry throughout europe.

Conduit had developed an SMS Server product which enabled them to send TXT messages and integrated with their DQ platform. SMS was a key innovation and differentiator for their service which was initially targeted at mobile users. Mobile users fell in love with getting contact numbers sent directly to their phone allowing Conduit to establish a significant market share in a very short period.

Experience IT worked with Conduit, to develop and enhance the DigiSecretary product. This is an alternative to voicemail. Subscribers redirect their voicemail to the DigiSecretary ‘paging’ service who greets callers with a personalised message, takes a message and notifies the subscriber via SMS. Ideal for the busy business person for call screening or for the sole-trader wishing to have a personalised call answering service.

Experience IT also designed and prototyped the Conduit SMS InfoService platform. This product enabled the dissemination of information via SMS. Cellphone users could request or subscribe to information feeds via SMS. The platform supported both push, pull and recurring message streams. It is regrettable that Conduit’s software business was scaled back in 2003 and that the opportunities of this product were never fully realised.
